It is still a mystery on what happened Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Everyone is still baffled on its whereabouts. Is it part of a terrorist attack? Will the lead on the 2 stolen passports (one from an Austrian and other from an Italian) provide the answer to this baffling incident?
The plane, a Boeing 777, took off Kuala Lumpur just before 1 a.m. Saturday, which is 12 p.m. Friday ET. On board the plane are 12 crew members and 227 passengers. Based on the report there 154 passengers from Taiwan or China and the remaining 38 are Malaysians. The said plane went off the grid without detection of any emergency signal between Malaysia and Vietnam.
Currently, a total of ten countries are providing assistance to scour the seas between Vietnam and Malaysia. Dozens of aircrafts and ships are searching the area. Aircrafts are flying over it from 7 in the morning until 7 in the evening. There were speculations of debris floating such as a plane door and its tail being spotted but it turned out to be a false claim. Another false alarm came up when the searchers came across an oil slick but it turned out that it belongs to passing cargo ships.
The current lead however is the 2 stolen passport. It was later found out that one of the owners is Luigi Maraldi, an Italian, who reported that his passport was stolen last August in Thailand. Images taken at the airport of the 2 suspected men using the stolen passports were given to US government for further investigation and cross referencing them with terrorist databases.
Sadly, for the relatives of the passengers on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the wait will continue to be an agonizing one. There is still no valid evidence on what really took place at that day.
