Animal cruelty is running rampant and just recently a Sarasota man is facing charges of felony aggravated animal cruelty. The victim is a Dachshund/Chihuahua mix puppy only 3-months old.
The incident happened around 1:20 am Sunday morning at 3500 block of Old Bradenton Road. Ephrian Myles, age 47, is the alleged suspect. It was stated that Myles had poured hot sauce all over the puppy – called Gizmo. The hot sauce got into the puppy’s eyes, down his throat, and all over his body. Then it started to make yelping noises and went into seizure. According to the homeowner and also the girlfriend of Myles, Gizmo has a medical history of seizures.
The puppy was brought to the nearby fire department to ask for assistance. It was Officer Adam Arena and Officer Jessica Sullivan who attended to Gizmo. The officers stated that when they saw the puppy it was already breathing hard and his eyes were swollen shut. When Gizmo went limp, the officer immediately washed him with water to rinse off the hot sauce. Now the puppy is still recovering from such a traumatic experience at the Animal Services.
At the house where it all happened, the officers saw that there was indeed a copious amount of hot sauce on the floor. It was stated that Myles denied the incident and asserted that he has nothing to do with it. However, with what his girlfriend and homeowner stated and the evidence found, Myles was arrested and brought to Sarasota County Jail.
